Luther on the Eve of His Revolt

Luther on the Eve of His Revolt was written by Father Marie-Joseph Lagrange. Lagrange lived from 1885 to 1938 and became a renowned Catholic theologian. His exegesis of scripture and other texts are widely read and well-developed. In this particular work, Lagrange critiques lectures given by Luther in the Book of Romans in 1515-16. Lagrange's overriding premise is that Luther was not reactionary to events but instead used the 95 theses to implement the doctrines and practices he had already determined necessary in the Church.
