Justin Martyr lived during the second century. He was a philosopher and an apologist for Christianity. Most likely, Justin was born into a pagan family. His education led him to Platonism. It wasn't until an old man introduced him to God. His view of Christians changed. He wrote in defense of their beliefs and practices. His apologies emphasize Christian morality and truth. Justin and his fellow Christians were tried by Rusticus and sentenced to be beheaded for their refusal to sacrifice to the Roman gods. Their execution took place around 165.
