Herr, du erforschest meinen Sinn.--(Goed. 287.)

Appeared in Ebeling, 1666, 2, no. 23.

English Versions:
1. Lord, Thou my heart dost search and try.

J. Kelly, 1867, p. 138. &

In his last stanza Kelly has nearly equalled the original in happily choosing for many of the words the exact English cognate:

Erforsch, Herr, all mein Herz und Mut
Sieh, ob mein Weg sei recht und gut,
Und führe mich bald himmelan
Den ewgen Weg, die Freudenbahn.
Lord, search and know my heart and mood,
See if my way be right and good,
The everlasting joyful road
Lead me that brings me home to God.
