Their names were erased from the diptych of the church:
ex venerabili diptycho, in quo piae memoriae transitum ad coelum habentium episcoporum vocabula continentur (Concil. tom. iv. p. 1846.).
This ecclesiastical record was therefore equivalent to the book of life.
