Biography

Christoph Friedrich Blumhardt was born in Germany in 1842. His father was a faith healer and the home was one of expectant miracles. Blumhardt attended theological classes with the intent to become a minister. However he left school to partner with his father in hold faith healing events. Upon his father’s death, Blumhardt carried on the work with evangelical and faith healing events throughout Germany. Abruptly in 1888, fearing he was promoting healing over “cleansing” salvation, Blumhardt quit holding events and invested his time and energy in addressing social-economic issues. He ran for political office and was elected however party politics clouded his noble objectives. He returned to ministry and pastored a congregation in Bad Boll until he died in 1919. Several of Blumhardt’s writings are widely read yet today such as The God Who Heals: Words of Hope for Time of Sickness, Action in Waiting, and Evening Prayers: For Every Day of the Year.
