Many Western Christians, especially those dwelling in the Western Hemisphere, do not
often come into contact with their Eastern Christian brothers and sisters. St. Thikon’s
Seminary Press here offers the most basic daily prayers of the Orthodox Church to
English speakers. The text comes from the Russian Orthodox Church specifically, and
because the texts from other Orthodox traditions vary only little, the Russian prayers
can faithfully represent the whole. The translators render the text in contemporary
English, and use the Revised Standard Version of the Bible for all scriptural references.
