Biography

Diogenes Allen was born in Kentucky on October 17, 1932. He attended several colleges beginning with The University of Kentucky. He also attended Princeton University, St. John’s College, and Yale Divinity College. Later in life, he would earn a Ph.D. from Yale. He served as a pastor in a church in New Hampshire before moving into the classroom at York University in Toronto. He finished out his teaching career as a Professor of Philosophy at Princeton Theological Seminary. His studies made him a trusted authority on the German polymath, Gottfried W. Leibniz. Allen was also a respected interpreter of the Danish philosopher, Seren Kierkegaard and the French philosopher, Simone Weil. On January 13, 2013, at the age of 80, Allen died. He left behind many published books and articles on theology and philosophy.
